23 April 2009 | Japan, Tokio

This week an early report, cause during the weekend I probably won’t have internet access. And even if I do, I doubt I got time to post something on my travel-blog. I promised this week’s post would be better than last one, I’ll do my best. Haven’t really done much this week, because I had to prepare a small presentation for yesterday (didn’t had much time for other things).
Anyway, here goes. The topics are Temples and Rainbow Bridge. Ow yeah, tomorrow morning (Friday) I will most likely go outside of Tokyo, will be a small trip to Uminokuchi, Matsumoto, and Nagano. More about this trip after the two topics.

I’ll start with the temples. There are a lot of cool temples here in Tokyo, will try to visit most of them during my stay. Currently I’m at work, after lunch time I’ll try to quickly check out three more temples. Yeah, I’m kinda running out of time here. So many things left to do, so little time left >_<
Since I’m a Buddhist, I’m very attracted to the temples here in Japan. Much more interesting than those churches in Europe :P Expect at least one more post about temples from me.
About the pictures, most of you know I’m not good at organizing things. So I don’t put tags on the pictures, which means you will never know which picture is from which temple. Except for one temple that I will mention now:
- Hikawa Jinja
You might now wonder why I mention this temple. Well, it appears in an anime series I’ve seen a long time ago. I can’t remember the name of the anime, but I remember how it looks like. Just had to go there and confirm it for myself. Here’s the entrance of the temple:

Rainbow Bridge. I just had to “walk” over that bridge at least once. Length of suspension is about 0.5km, triple deck. On March the first there was an event going on that people were allowed to walk over the express way on the first deck (bridge was closed for cars during that period), but I arrived at the 12th so I missed that event (7km walk) T_T
The pictures of my walk over this bridge are very low quality. I went from work towards the bridge and had no camera with me. Had to use a crappy cellphone to make some pictures. Doubt I’ll go there again, since I don’t have much time. So don’t expect new quality pictures of that location from me.
Small thing I should notice is that I used my skateboard for half the bridge. Going up I walked, but downwards was skating! Although it wasn’t allowed, I was sneaky and did it anyway. Ow yeah, the bridge shakes quite a bit. Guess that's what happens if you built a triple deck bridge that long!

That’s about it for this week’s post. About the trip I want to do this weekend. Uminokuchi is related to the anime Onegai Twins. The small town looks really nice, near Kizaki Lake. And since I’m going passed Matsumoto, I might as well check the castle there. Nagano is near Matsumoto, so I plan on checking the big temple there as well. Once every six years they will show a replica of Japan’s first Buddha statue, that I must see. I really picked the right time to go to Japan. Great weather, cool events going on, not too crowded (tourist-season starts after I leave Japan).
